The word "Sizifo" is the Esperanto translation of the ancient Greek name Sisyphus.

According to Greek mythology, Sisyphus was a cunning king of Ephyra (ancient Corinth) who was condemned by the gods to repeatedly roll a boulder up a hill in the underworld, only for it to roll back down every time it neared the top.

In his 1942 essay, "The Myth of Sisyphus," Albert Camus saw Sisyphus as personifying the absurdity of human condition. The pointless, repetitive actions of Sisyphus symbolize the meaninglessness of everything we do in life, including writing this post and choosing this name.
